The New Lady Gaga Era Starts with 'Disease'—and It’s Infectious

Gaga's Disease just dropped. I really loved the Harlequin album, and yesterday I couldn’t stop listening to her live performance of Happy Mistake, where her vocals just cut through the air. I also loved Die With A Smile, the song with Bruno Mars, but this new direction is exactly what I need right now. Since the beginning, Gaga's music serves a purpose and points out a direction, like a compass in the never-ending tornado of life. Now, we have a new path to follow, and it sounds infectious. I woke up 30 minutes ago, and ever since, there’s nothing else I want to play but this song.

I was so excited yesterday—after a damaging breakup, this dark techno rollercoaster of a new song, Disease, is exactly the boost of energy I needed to overcome the cluster of emotions in my heart. Gaga's voice channels those emotions and streamlines them into a scream. The lyrics are made to be shouted—and I’ll make sure my whole neighborhood hears them. Every time the song ends, Spotify tries to switch me to something else, and some guy tried to convince me to like his song, but when I heard "I am not good alone," I almost destroyed my phone. You know, this guy doesn’t get me; Gaga does. I immediately went back to what’s going to be my favorite Era so far.

Where’s the video? Can somebody tell me when we can expect the video and the new album? I hope the strategy is different from Dua Lipa's. She gave us Houdini in November, and Radical Optimism came out in May—I cannot wait seven months with three singles spread out for the Era to be complete. Although Radical Optimism followed the successful formula of Future Nostalgia and became one of my favorite albums of all time. Maybe Gaga should take her time and use this slower approach. Let people feast on her songs one by one, spreading her talent across the year, just like Ms. Lipa did. I know I still listen to the album almost a year after Houdini.

Recently, Gaga was part of one of the biggest Hollywood flops of the century, but she still looked on top of her game. Like the original green witch would say, "Claw your way out." She did it—how are my problems keeping me down? The Gaga magic is alive in my studio, and with the right motivation and beat, I'm ready to claw my way out too.

Apparently, the people around me are too proud to know when they’re wrong or to say sorry when they cause me pain—which always makes for a great time. I’ve had enough over the last week; now I have to release this anger. This disease.

The promotion for the song and this new Gaga wave is unbelievable. Dark and gritty, it feels like an extension of Chromatica but with more vampiric visuals and sound. Her vocals on the new hit twist and turn as if she’s screaming for her life. And the photos surrounding this Era? Next level.
